Braille Materials
In accordance with the OSDE UEB Transition plan, all new braille transcriptions will be ordered in UEB (Unified English Braille) code with embedded Nemeth code for Math and Science. When an existing transcription is available, it will be provided regardless of code. Because most of our existing library is in EBAE (English Braille American Edition) code, you should anticipate that most older books will be provided in EBAE and newer copyrights (2016 forward) are more likely to be available in UEB.
If a student has an iPad on loan through the Liberty Braille program, novels and ELA books available in digital format will be loaded on the iPads in lieu of providing hard copy braille. At this time, digital Math is NOT a usable format for braille readers so hard copy must be requested. Please do not hesitate to call or email with any braille related questions.
Current school year requests may be submitted as needed. Requests for the next school year will be accepted beginning Feb. 15th. Please submit braille orders before May 15th to allow time for delivery in time for the start of school. Because of production lead time for braille, failure to do so can result in significant delay.
